These activities can include rules, roles, and responsibilities. The organizational structure also determines how information flows between levels within our firm. For example, in a centralized structure, decisions flow from the top down, while in a decentralized structure, decision-making power is distributed among various levels of the organization.  Putting our organizational structure in place is very beneficial to our firm.

The structure not only defines our firm's hierarchy, but it also allows our firm to lay out the pay structure for our employees. By putting the organizational structure in place, the firm can decide salary grades and ranges for each position.  Organizational structures fix the scope of jobs, group operational activities together in some fashion and provide for superior-subordinate and peer relationships. Decisions leading to the best structure for a particular business weigh the company’s circumstances, aspirations and character.

It is an honor to welcome you as FAAVM Ambassador, Members, Donors, Directors, Sponsors, Volunteers and Partners,  and I am eager to get to know more of you, along with your interests in the coming years. The FAAVM is a major force in the humanities in North America and beyond. It offers a place for us to think and act together about the best ways to sustain people basic and fundamental human rights and civil rights, and to advocate for better life conditions for men, women and children locally, regionally and globally. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights establishes the equality and dignity of every human being and stipulates that every government has a core duty to enable all people to enjoy all their inalienable rights and freedoms. All of us have a right to speak freely and participate in decisions that affect our lives.

Matrix organizational structures were first developed in the aerospace industry in the U.S. as projects grew in complexity during the mid-century. Until that point, they had been using a single hierarchical organization, which was fine when there was only one very large project. The matrix organizational structure also gives us an advantage so  our team is equipped with powerful and resourceful tools.  This structure organizes business activities into specific market, product, service, or customer groups.
